Avatar 2009

Avatar 2009

Ohh where to start on this one. I had quite a few mixed feelings about going to see Avatar. I had heard quite a few things about it, most were that it was good. Though I do admit that the people that said it was good had seen Avatar in 3D. Now I have seen some movies in 3D before and have simply not been impressed by them. I am not saying that this movie was not great in 3D, since I have not seen it in 3D, but really does it add anything of value to your movie experience?

I did enjoy watching this movie(not in 3d) but I have a few bones to pick. Hearing all the hype on the movie with it supposed to be cutting edge with some crazy special effects really does nothing for me. I have heard similar things a hundred time to see the movie or game die on release. I do admit that this was a pretty good special effects movie and trumps quite a few movies in that department but in my opinion it is not something to hype up to what it was.

The story of the movie was borderline hippy and straight from Pocahontas. Is this a bad thing, no but it does not deserve some of the credits it got from people around the world. To their defense there were some original elements added to the story and cool special effects that made it more than a “lets save the planet” movie.

With no real high quality actors or actresses this movie did a pretty good job, considering most were B at best. The cast includes: Giovanni Ribisi, Michelle Rodriguez, Joel Moore, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang.

As always go see it for yourself unless you were part of the millions that have already seen it, then it would be pointless because in all honesty who needs to see it again?
