Green Zone 2010
I thought the Bourne Movies were done. Well that IS what I thought when I had briefly seen the trailer to Green Zone. It is actually nothing like the Bourne movies. If you are in to conspiracy and war movies this is the perfect movie for you. I liked the movie to the extent that the action was really well played out and made quite a bit of sense. Not only that the action made sense but it played out like it could be real. The actual story line was pretty predictable and plays just like any other movie in the genre.
Green Zone starts out following US Army solider Miller (Matt Damon) who is being put on these crazy missions in search of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. The only problem with the missions is that they never turn up what they think is supposed to be there. Miller gets so fed up after 3 times of getting shitty intelligence and decides to speak his mind about the stupid intelligence. He is quickly shut up and goes about his business and on to the next site in search of the weapons. This time was different because he was given a tip by a local about some high ranking Iraqi officials meeting down the street from them. From that point all the shit hits the fan.
Now it was not exactly the acting in the movie that sucked but more that you knew what to expect with every turn. It really is just a generic conspiracy war movie that simply offers nothing new. Now do not get me wrong it was fun to watch and had some exciting parts. Is it worth my admission to the theater no. Make up your own mind and go this shit!

Another great great performance from the one and only Robert Downey Jr.. Sherlock Holmes was one of those movies that you want to see but it is not exactly at the top of your list so you forget about it. There was some great acting going on in the movie and I think it is one of the few movies where the biggest problem was no interaction between characters themselves. Namely Sherlock Holmes (Rober Downey Jr.) and Dr. John Watson (Jude Law). The two had interaction but because of what the movie was supposed to live up to it really did not pan out like it has in the past.
Sherlock Holmes is about a perplexed man that is dealing with a lot of different problems in his life. Though at the same time “gets it”. On top of all the problems he is dealing with his ex Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams) which happens to pop in and check in on him for no apparent reason. In the midst of everything there is a threat to England by a nemesis of Sherlock Holmes, Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong).
The story keeps you engaged but do not expect a whole lot from it. What the story lacks is made up with action and mystery. I enjoyed watching the movie especially since it was one of those that I forgot about until I really saw it in front of my eyes. Make your own opinion and go pick up Sherlock Holmes.

Avatar 2009
Ohh where to start on this one. I had quite a few mixed feelings about going to see Avatar. I had heard quite a few things about it, most were that it was good. Though I do admit that the people that said it was good had seen Avatar in 3D. Now I have seen some movies in 3D before and have simply not been impressed by them. I am not saying that this movie was not great in 3D, since I have not seen it in 3D, but really does it add anything of value to your movie experience?
I did enjoy watching this movie(not in 3d) but I have a few bones to pick. Hearing all the hype on the movie with it supposed to be cutting edge with some crazy special effects really does nothing for me. I have heard similar things a hundred time to see the movie or game die on release. I do admit that this was a pretty good special effects movie and trumps quite a few movies in that department but in my opinion it is not something to hype up to what it was.
The story of the movie was borderline hippy and straight from Pocahontas. Is this a bad thing, no but it does not deserve some of the credits it got from people around the world. To their defense there were some original elements added to the story and cool special effects that made it more than a “lets save the planet” movie.
With no real high quality actors or actresses this movie did a pretty good job, considering most were B at best. The cast includes: Giovanni Ribisi, Michelle Rodriguez, Joel Moore, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang.
As always go see it for yourself unless you were part of the millions that have already seen it, then it would be pointless because in all honesty who needs to see it again?
